The Brazilian Performance Level

The safety of industrial machinery is governed by a very articulated legislative and technical regulatory framework which is in continuous evolution.
If the approximation of Brazilian legislation to international law is an increasingly evident phenomenon, on the other hand we assist at the rigorous verification that in the design and construction phase all the safety requirements provided for by local regulations have been respected (NR 12 standard, norm NR 10, norm NR 13, norm NR 14, norm NR 17, ABNT, etc.).
However, the harmonization concerns only specific technical aspects. In fact, the Brazilian approach from the European one is profoundly different.
On March 26, 2019, the Brazilian standard ABNT NBR ISO 13849-1: 2019 was officially published.
With the entry into force of the ABNT NBR ISO 13849-1:2019 the Performance Level (PL) will be officially used within the Brazilian risk assessment by the CREA engineers in charge of the NR 12 Certification and by the potential state auditors appoint of the verification.
