NR 12 Certification Process for Brazil

To export industrial machinery into Brazil is essential to know the certification procedure in compliance with the Brazilian NR 12 regulation which is different from European approach. The following information are inserted in the report called Laudo de Validação NR 12:
- Document identification number: this number will allow the buyer and the government inspector to check the machine safety documentation (ART and Laudo)
- Manufacturer identification
- Identification of machinery
- Installation site
- Description of the machinery being evaluated
- Compliance analysis of the safety functions: inside the report are inserted images of the critical points of the machinery and of the related safety functions in order to freeze the machine state during inspection. Each point is subject to a careful analysis of conformity. If the Brazilian engineer finds out some non-conformities these must be eliminated by the manufacturer (it is important that the design and manufacturer activity are made in conformity to NR 12 regulations).
The CREA Brazilian engineers must issue the Anotação De Responsabilidade Técnica (A.R.T.). The A.R.T. is an official document registered on the CREA website by the Brazilian engineers which contains the following elements:
- Name of the CREA Brazilian engineer
- Identification of machinery
- Installation site
- Identification number of Laudo de Validação NR 12
The A.R.T. and the Laudo de Validação NR 12 are fundamental documents that attest to the state of conformity of the machinery. These documents must be kept and delivered to the purchaser and to the government inspector in case of inspection on the Brazilian installation site.
